Dong Nong, Lin Cang

Dong Nong is a big village in the Lin Cang tea region, also known as the western tea region in Yun Nan. Its pu er is bright, sweet but also more tannic than other regions.

Pu Er is named after locations. Dong Nong is one of the largest villages of the eastern mountains of Meng Ku of the Lin Cang tea region, sometimes also known as the western tea region. Because of its lack of road infrastructure, Dong Nong is harder to get to and is one of the best values of Lin Cang.

Lin Cang teas are known for being sweeter and brighter than the other main regions but with rougher tannins. The “rubbing” technique is usually adopted by tea makers in the region to exfoliate the membranes of the leaves and enables greater contact with the heat source. Therefore well made Lin Cang teas tend to be whiter (tea hair) than other Pu Er.
